Grounded, Relational, Inquisitive

My capstone project for my journalism degree was a series of images documenting a queer chosen family with a penchant for throwing elaborate costume & dance parties in a basement in North Minneapolis. I was newly coming into my own identity as a queer person during that time and I was deeply moved by the expressions of queer joy & community-making. Fifteen years later, I am still in awe of the resilience, ingenuity and beauty of queer love and family-making, especially in a country where the rights of marginalized people are constantly threatened & violated. Being a part of QFP feels like both a full circle moment as a photographer, as well as a way to continue uplifting the visions & stories of a world I want to live in. I am so honored to be here!

My artistic style is photojournalistic, nostalgic and heart-centered. I am endlessly fascinated by light, texture, color, emotion, & the way all of these things inform the landscapes of memory. I hope my images capture not only what happened, but how it felt to live, feel and experience the captured moment.
